Sandburg’s Robinson Earns Spot on All-Region IV 1st Team

Carl Sandburg College men’s basketball sophomore Deandrey Robinson (Peoria, Ill./Peoria) has been named to the All-Region IV Division II District 3 First Team for his play for the Chargers this season.
Robinson, a 6-foot-5 forward, has been one of the most productive players in all of NJCAA Division II, racking up 18 double-doubles in 27 games for Sandburg. At 17.5 points and 10.4 rebounds per game, Robinson is one of only 17 players in the country averaging a double-double. Only seven players in Division II have higher averages than him in both scoring and rebounding.
Robinson, who has started all 27 games for the 20-7 Chargers, leads the team in scoring, rebounding, field goal shooting (60.1 percent), field goals made (188), steals (29) and blocks (13).
Nationally, he ranks 11th in defensive rebounds (192), 12th in total rebounds (281), 17th in rebounds per game, 34th in field goal percentage and 63rd in scoring average.
Robinson has scored in double figures in 23 games and has 10 20-point performances. He put up a career-high 29 points in Sandburg’s victory at Madison on Nov. 17. Robinson has 10-plus rebounds in 21 games this season, including the last 11 in a row. He hauled in a career-best 16 boards in the Chargers’ win over Black Hawk on Nov. 19.
The Chargers begin the Region IV District 3 tournament tonight when they host McHenry County at 7 p.m. in the quarterfinals.
